I used to take tramadol which helped immensely for the pain, but it kept me from sleeping. The Vicodin I'm now taking seems to do the same. I'm dealing with some stomach acid problems but I'm just exhausted all the time and can hardly deal with it all. I'm not on a medication for the ADHD and haven't really been diagnosed, but I'm pretty sure I have it. The acid problem seems to cause a lot of burping which takes me forever to get out when I try to relax to get to sleep. It even makes my legs hurt badly and even the Vicodin can't alleviate the pain.
Fibromyalgia has some common problems that I don't think you understand. No pain medication will get rid of the pain, we are always tired, no matter how much we sleep, and we have bad sleep problems. I doubt very much if its the vicodin keeping you awake. What are you taking for the fibromyalgia? Are you seeing a rheumatologist that understand fibro?
I completely understand your situation because I had (have) the same problem. I have Fibro & ADHD, but take meds for the ADHD. I find that it helps me burn up my energy during the day so that I am actually tired at night. That and because sometimes without it I get that Fibro tiredness and I can't stand that almost more than I can't stand my difficulties to get to sleep. Everyone is different so I don't know if these recommendations will work or not but they are worth a serious try. If you have a good doctor and he/she is knowledgeable about fibro they should be willing to give you a good muscle relaxer. Don't settle for the first one if it doesn't work then try a different one until you find one that works well for you. Personally, I feel that Soma works best but it is known to cause some people to abuse it. You may even want two different muscle relaxers one that you can take during the day to help your fibro and a different one that you save for night time. This may stop your restless leg syndrome too. You can also add two over the counter items: Benadryl (off brand is cheaper and it actually is the same ingredient in most night time sleep aids). Also 5mg of Melatonin. I find this doesn't help me to get to sleep that is why I use the Benadryl & muscle relaxer, but it helps me stay asleep and I am less restless throughout the night. I am not going to recommend this to you because I don't know your tolerance but I take a muscle relaxer, benadryl, melatonin, neurontin & an ativan just to get to sleep. If you want more natural and less medication you can also find Kava Kava & Valerian root at the health food store.
Regarding your belching and/or stomach acid problem: I am not sure whether or not you are assuming it is acid or if it actually is burning like heartburn. If it definitely is heartburn then ask your Dr. for Prolosec or Nexium and take it at night or before you go to bed. The belching may actually be something else like indigestion rather than an over abundance of stomach acid you could be under balanced and need to build up your digestive track. Have you recently taken antibiotics or been eating a lot of sugary high carbohydrate foods? You may need to supplement with a pro-biotic for awhile and I would recommend a digestive enzyme to help breakdown your food. Both can be found at your health food store or the vitamin section at the store or pharmacy. Sorry for such a lengthy response, but I felt I needed to cover everything you discussed in your question.
