Good question aliu. Unlike some of the other sleeping drugs, ambien is not that difficult to stop (its not a benzodiazepine). I think it really depends on you, the individual. Taking a guess, again a guess, not knowing how long a period you've been taking it, the 10mg, I might say a few weeks, and then give it a try. You should do fairly well. if you find you're not, either drag it out, meaning going sleepless, or try taking half the 5mg. One thing I know, being an insomniac, sleep eventually does come for us all. Its a matter of when.best wishes to you.
