After I skipped my placebo pills last month on Ocella birth control and continued taking the next pack, I've had non-stop bleeding for over 3 weeks. I was also spotting before I had even skipped placebos (so that might factor in?). Now I have finished this pack and am on the placebos, taking them as I should but I am still spotting. When will I get my period? Will this bleeding stop when I start my new pack next week? I'm on my 2nd day of placebo and still just randomly spotting. I just want to stop bleeding, it's been almost a month, please help
I was on Yaz for years, and I seem to recall Ocella is a generic version of it or Yasmin (was on this for a couple years before Yaz). I have been on Beyaz (same as Yaz but with folic acid added) for several years and just had some bleeding almost 2 weeks into my new pack of Beyaz. I surmise this was because I had skipped my placebo pills for the previous 2 packs, and did not skip the placebos in last month's pack.
Also, a few yeI was on Yaz for years with seemingly no issues I began bleeding while on the active pills (I never skipped placebos and took every night at same time) and it freaked me right out! It lasted for weeks, I even took a pregnancy test (with negative results) to rule that possibility out. I was pretty distressed about it and in hindsight, I am not sure why I didn't just call my OB/GYN... but anyway.
The bleeding and spotting I had experienced continuously for weeks seemed to go away as sneakily as it had
come on during my next pill pack.
If, however, you have been experiencing breakthrough spotting on the Ocella as well, it may be time to change... Perhaps the generic Gianvi would be better for you? I would phone my doctor (as I wish I had done back in the day!) and let him/her know what is going on. At least you'll have peace of mind, and probably some helpful directions/suggestions from your OB/GYN.
