when i was in high school i took yasmin and would occasionally skip my periods by just going to a new pack. i never had any problems doing so. for the last 5 months i have been on a new birth control named mononessa and this is the first time i've tried skipping my period on this pill. 5 days into the new pack i started to lightly bleed. this has never happened before when i tried skipping my period. can i not skip my period on this pill? should i continue taking the pack or switch back to the sugar pills you take when you are on your period?
Skipping the inert pills doesnt always work to skip a period. Now that you have started the new pack, just keep taking it. If you stop taking it now, you'll mess yourself all up! Just keep taking them as they come in the pack no matter what your body is doing (bleeding or not) The bleeding will stop. This pill may be lower dose than Yasmin which could be why skipping didnt work. I'm not sure If you want to be able to skip periods, you might ask your prescriber about it. It may have been a fluke this time or you may not be able to skip periods with these pills so be sure to ask.
