My dermatologist prescribed cordran tape for a very stubborn skin condition that I have experienced for years. After just over 12 hours of using the tape, I have significant lightening of the skin where the tape was. It is so obvious that I am embarrassed to go out in public without covering the spots. I am hoping this will fade over time. Is that so?
Hypopigmentation is the absence of normal amounts of melanin (the chemical that gives skin its color) caused by disease, injury, burns or other trauma to the skin. Hypopigmentation can be tricky to treat. There are topical medications that sometimes help, and light-based procedures like IPL, excimer lasers, and the Fraxel Restore laser can also be used.
