Hello, Im a 21 year old male. Ive had a viral sinus infection about 8 days ago, and it slowly got better. Just when I thought I healed about 2 days ago, I had facial pressure /pain, and my head would hurt when I coughed. There was also pain in my inner right eye. A day after, the pressure-like pain disappeared from my face but I have a sharp 2 second squeezing pain in the back right side of my head, and its been there for awhile. Its the 2nd day now and Ive been taking advil but it just comes back the next day. I was wondering if a sinus infection is still causing all this? Its weird because my nose isnt plugged anymore, nor do I have a fever.
Yes, you definitely need to have it checked out. My husband suffered from several sinus infections. He never got them treated properly, he tried treating them on his own. The bones in your face are very thin. After years of pus build up, the pus eventually eroded through the bone and caused a hole in his sphenoid sinus, which eventually led to a spontaneous CSF leak. Cerebral Spinal Fluid. He poured it out of his nose. Had multiple surgeries to fix it, he got strep bacteria through the hole which led to encephalitis--coma, near death. Thank God he came out of it 15 days later. Definitely see an ENT Doc, every time you get an infection, and always have future infections treated.
Hi Joey, this is Liz again, my husband started having all of his sinus issues when he was about your age, it took several yrs for it to manifest itself into the serious condition that it is today. Just take care of them. My husband was one of those " I'm macho, I don't need a docter" now he has about 5. Take care. Bless!!
I get sinus infections at least 6 times a year, most of them i don't get treatment for due to a fear of it becoming resistant to the antibiotics and my immune system starting to rely on them, but if any of them last more than a week i go in, especially if there is a change in pressure like that.
