I started on lithium about 45 days ago. I’ve noticed I no longer have any interest in music (I’ve always been a music freak). I’ve also noticed I’m always talking to myself. Anyone else had anything like this? I seem to be disinterested in things I used to care about.
When have you had your lithium level rechecked? This is very important early in treatment. If your level is in the therapeutic range then your disinterest in music may be that, simply put, it helped you cope. You may not need music as much on lithium because it helps you cope more effectively than music did. The talking to self is a sign of contentment. It is your mind saying,i'm so comfortable and content with just me, myself and I, that now I like the words that I produce. If you argue with yourself or imaginary people that is not good and is early manifestation of pedophilia.
