Diagnosed with high BP 30 years ago - maintained a BP of 126/80 with medication. Since having a heart valve replacement and bypass, doctor placed me on metoprolol and my blood pressure has increased to 170/80 but my heart rate has dropped to 46/47 bpm. I'm 69 and in very good shape - my heart rate is typically 70 at rest. Could I be reacting to this drug and what would be a good alternative?
