Hi again bhedge!
I use Cymbalta 120 mgs. daily for chronic pain. This is generally considered the maximum dosage. My dosage was increased a few months ago from 60 mgs.
My hubby uses 300 mgs of Lyrica every day for RLS (Restless Legs Syndrome). His dosage was increased 4 months ago from 100 mgs.
I have generalized pain, swollenness (most prevalent in my left foot & ankle), tenderness & 2 left fingers are numb, usually every day. On a lesser & sporadic scale, I have trouble walking & remembering things & specific words. I'm not dizzy when I walk but my body feels as if it's swirling around & around inside. It feels as if I have to hold onto something to steady my balance (I have a cane that I use sometimes). I'll try to walk forward but I go sideways or backwards. I have to wait a minute or two after I stand up before I can walk well enough. I'm then waiting for my body "to settle". LOL If I have to walk on a patterned rug or tiled floor, fahggeddabouttit! Then I'll & grab my hubby's arm & go slowly (& hopefully in a forward motion). Before I go through doorways from 1 room into another, I pause first to "line things up". LOL
I have dry mouth from the Cymbalta. It's also suppressing my appetite since I've increased the dosage. Since I've been ill over 3 years ago, I've gained at least 16 lbs.of weight but it's mostly in the abdominal area. This area feels extremely heavy & "draggy" at times then at other times, I don't feel so bulky. I'm sure this draggy sensation makes it harder for me to walk properly. (It reminds me of being 8 months pregnant~~I'm 5' 10'' in height) I am weaker & shaky sometimes but this has been slowly improving. While conversing, I'll have to stop & search for certain words & can't always recall them. My speech isn't confident-sounding now. I don't slur at all but there's a little bit of stuttering. I could perform some action today but not recall how to do it tomorrow. This aspect of my health is extremely frustrating for me since I had prided myself on my excellent diction & memory skills. I've gotten used to being sore or in pain every day
so I don't always notice until my hubby touches me, for instance, on my back. THEN I notice! LOL My shoulder blades & the bottom of my back near the coccyx are my most painful back areas.
I have pains in my liver area intermittently & generally everyday. After much testing, the specialist's conclusion was Fatty Liver Disease (FLD). I had a pulmonary embollism (PE) 3 years ago in my right lung which predicated all of my present health issues. I had a DVT (Deep Vein Thrombus) in my left thigh at the end of March. Oh, I found out in January that I now have asthma.
I feel nauseous frequently but cannot attribute that conclusively to Cymbalta. My memory is improving but I don't know the definite cause. I'm a menopausal woman who'll be 55 years old in September (although I feel like 85 LOL). I don't have a lot of strength or endurance right now, however, I know that can be rebuilt over time. I may have some other health concerns but can't remember any others at this moment. All that I have listed are my prevalent health issues.
My husband has been using Lyrica for over a year but has no noticeable side effects. He also uses about 15 other pills for his heart condition (coronary artery by-pass grafting ~~CABG) & RLS.
So, bhedge, you may not feel like it but you may have 1 leg up on me! I'd dearly love to be earning some income right about now! Ha Ha Ha
Let's keep the faith, sistah! We're both on the right track~~~we just didn't realize it'd be this long & arduous! LOL
All the best to you! from your friend, Wendy :)
