I had a soccer game today where I fell and landed on my shoulder, the pain was very intense but it didn't hurt to much unless I moved my shoulder so I continued to play. After 30 minutes I fell again on the same shoulder and the pain was next to unbearable. My hand was tingling and I had trouble moving my arm. Nobody was to worried because quote "you should tell if she dislocated it" so they just brought me home after the game and put ice on it. After a while I could move my arm without pain but I still can't lift it or move my shoulder. Do I need to get it checked out or just wait the pain out?
I doubt by waiting your going to have any permanent injury. But, you said that you "cant lift it or move my shoulder". Why? Can't? Or you can but only in pain? You could of torn some ligaments. That doesn't mean its bad. Just will heal much slower. I would wait a few days. Not more then 3 days. Then see a Dr. if you haven't improved. Ibuprofen 400mg 3x a day for upto 3 days will be your best friend for the meantime.
If you unable to move it because of pain is different than being unable to lift it at all.
You need to see an orthopedist. You do not want this to become chronic.
I could go through a series of tests to rule out different conditions that may have occurred. You need to have a partner.
I think you probably injured your rotator cuff but obviously it's just a guess.
The diagnostic tests are quite lengthy so. I don't want to go through them all if you are not interested AND have a partner who can hold your arm and shoulder to do these.
Let me know and I'll be happy to go through these with you.
