I flipped thru the Drugs A to Z, & didn't find anything about an odor, but then re-read your question, & realized you were speaking of the medicine itself! I at first thought you were speaking about you having an odor! Geez Mary, get you reading glasses out! I think I would call your pharmatist and ask him (or her). Some meds as the age can take on an odor as aspirin if it smells like vinegar. Some meds like some antibioitcs really smell bad! I think unless someone else that takes this med know if theirs has a bad odor too, & answers this question for you, you should check with your pharmatist.
My spouse takes it and I notice a strong odor from the pills. It seems like a familiar odor but I can't place it. It doesn't smell like it's bad or like vinegar though.

Thanks for the update - Pauly that wasn't there before, it was blank.
I can't quite remember what Benicar HCT smells like, but if I remember correctly it was vanilla smell. Not sure just sort of remember Benicar having a smell. I would recommend taking it to the pharmacy where the pharmacist can take a whiff of the stock bottle.
It's doubtful that Benicar would have such a strong odor on its own. I would cease taking them and take the excess back to the phamacist for an examination and replacement immediately. (I'm not telling you to go off your BP meds... just not to take any more of that particular batch until after they are scrutinized by a profession. My bet is that he replaces them with a fresh batch rather than take a risk.) How long have you had them, and where have they been stored?
