I have tried cymbalta and took it during dinner I was fine until the next morning as I felt like I got hit in the back of the head with a sledge hammer and was not myself that whole day... It was the first day I tried it when I called the doctor he just told me not to take it... I have generalized depression and some anxiety and this was suppose to treat this. My own doctor prescribed me paxil 5 miligrams a day and am very skeptical to use it she is a nurse practitioner that took over for my family physician that at one time said she would not put me on an anxiety medication... that was over 10 years ago... I have a lot of physical problems as well and due to this I am unable to work and has caused the depression to worsen...
Take the Paxil as prescribed by your doctor. If you are coming off Cymbalta I would recommend talking with your doctor and asking him/her what you should do. It should be fine if you just start taking it. Hopefully this will work for you. If not I would recommend a Effexor Xr or something else. If your anxiety is severe or chronic I would recommend a Benzodiazepine but I'm not sure if your doctor would be willing to put you on something if she was hesitating in the first place as this type of drug is a controlled substance. It works for many people. I personally take Xanax 2mg 4 times a day for anxiety and panic attacks. It works great. I've been taking it for 2 years now with no problem. Although it recommended that you only take these for up to 6 months there have been studies done where patients took them longer and had success with them after many years of taking the medication. I hope this helps you. I wish you the best as Anxiety is horrible and you should have the right to try whatever medication is available for anxiety including Benzodiazepines.
i take paxil 30mg a day and have no problems with it at all . it is a great drug and u are starting on a low dose. i also had problems with alot of different ones but paxil is a good drug and i have no problems at all so i would start taking it as long as you dr told u to. good luck.
