Yes, taking Trazadone 30 minutes before bed is a good idea. You should follow your doctor's instructions, though.
In my experience, Trazadone does take about 30 minutes to work, and causes drowsiness. Make sure you're not doing anything that involves heavy lifting or the possibility of falling after you take it, though. Everyone is different, and it might start working more quickly for you.
I take Trazadone 100mg 1/day about 15 minutes before going to bed and I'm out in no time. One thing I have found to make it work faster/better is to eat a small snack at the same time you take the Trazadone. If I don't eat something with the med I end up taking forever to fall asleep.
