I am scared to start taking Lexapro but I have such anxiety. dr prescribed 10mgs, any suggestions is it possible to cut the pill and only start with 5mg? scared of side effects had a bad experience with Zoloft. Any advice would be appreciated! I have anxiety I am nauseaus alot but no medical diagnosis except aniety and mild depression! any advice would be appreciated is it worth starting this medicine or not?
my doctor started me on Lexapro 10mg but told me to use 1.2 half tablet using a pill splitter and to use a 1/2 pill for one week if I had no problems then to increase the dose to a full 10mg dose, it is only a suggestion I know its a worry after you have had a bad experience with one medication but if you try and smaller dose then maybe you won't have those problems you could always discuss this with your doctor just to be on the safe side
I have been on Lexapro forever. I have not have any side effects, BUT when I just had back surgery I ran into problems with it. Lexapro does NOT go with pain killers. I went into respiratory arrest after surgery. The surgeon, who was a real jerk, said he had a patient 4 days before me went into respiratory arrest that was also on Lexapro. I also heard it is a nightmare to wean from. If I were you, I would ask for a .05 dose of Ativan. It is for anxiety. It is also a low enough dose that you could take 1 in the morning and one before bed. I can drive on the .05, but not the .10. No for Lexapro. It's for depression and anxiety, but really works better for depression. Go for the Benzo, Ativan.
