What works to correct it ? The normal meds don't touch it, & I don't think my Dr knows what to give me. I've been living with this since this past Nov., so I'm new to Short Bowel syndrome. I've had 8 small bowel resections due to crohn's disease.
I have IBS-D Irritable Bowel syndrome - diarrhea predominate (I would go into shock if I ever got constipated as it has never happened) Not the same as what you have but the same problem with the watery diarrhea and it was not until I was diagnosed with osteoporosis and started taking calcium that I had any long term relief.
I know what you are thinking and I could not believe it myself that a simple thing like calcium could solve a problem that I have had for 40+ years. To see if that was what was helping so much I stopped taking the calcium and it was not long until my diarrhea started up again so back on the calcium and again the diarrhea stopped within the week.
I do not know if this will help you but with having the chronic diarrhea you are going to need the calcium to stop the loss of bone that it causes.
Take care of you
