I have had an illeostomy with 4ft. of small intestine, no large for 20 years. Would love to connect with someone who may be experiencing the same symptoms. I have large volume output. I can only eat certain things, very few veggies and my drink options are also limited. I am still active and love to do things, however my illeostomy sometimes prevents life from happening. For the most part i am healthy, just no guts! I am looking for food ideas, drink ideas, and activity ideas. Would also like to have someone to talk to. Thanks.
I lost my 'guts' in a terrible car accident. I have 10 inches of small intestine and lost a third of my large intestine. Things that I have found helpful and been chocolate ensures as well as smart water and powerade. When it comes to food I have concentrated more on the combination of foods. For instance if I crave broccoli, which we know is not the friendliness for i had some sort of cheese sauce. Think of it as a buffer, helping things to more through more easily. I personally steer clear of onions, garlic, and peppers, all of which i seem to tolerate better if it is in powder form. I sure you have tried many different things. My process was trial and err. Also Ativia once a day does wonders helping to clear out bad bacterial to make room for good. Hope this helps, feel free to write back with any thoughts or questions.
