NEVER, EVER douche unless your gynecologist tells you too. Douching can CAUSE infection because it alters the delicate pH balance of the vagina and kills off "good" bacteria that keeps "bad" bacteria in check. Douching when you have an infection already can drive the infection higher up into the uterus and cause PID (pelvic inflammatory disease) which is basically infection in not only the vagina but also in the uterus and tubes! Not something you want as this can lead to scarring and infertility. The vagina is a "self cleansing" organ. Douches are completely unnecessary and can even be harmful!
