I have Crohn's Disease, Hypertention, Asthma, IBS, Chronic Pancreatitis and short bowel syndrome. In the last 24 months I have had Endocarditis, Pneumonia 3 times, magnesium levels as low as 0.1, two bladder infections, one that went toxic sending my blood pressure down to 31/45 causing my kidneys to nearly shut down. I was severely dehydrated with little magnesium, folic acid or potassium. I'm on 13 RX drugs, including drugs for TB (I was exposed as a child and need to take TB drugs for 9 months before going on a biologic (Remicaid)) I've spent a lot of time in the hospital (8 admits in 7 months, yuk) I looked all the drugs up but none of them cause hair loss even as a secondary side effect. With all I deal with I refuse to go bald without a fight. Any comment or suggestions would be appreciated. HELP!
I think it's being malnourished that causes hair loss, eventually. I know when I get very sick (CP, kidney, gastro problems galore) my hair starts to fall out. I then try VERY hard to choose wisely on foods/liquids and eat my vitamins (yes, I love my gummies)! Ensure helps provide better nutrition if solids aren't an option. Also, I'd ask my doctor. They should know about this and they would be better able to direct you. Choose whatever doctor you think has the best BIG picture. In my experience, that isn't always your GP! Hope this help and sure do wish you the best in your battle.
