I have just awoke from sleep w my hands so swollen, it took (for those in the emergency aspect of treatment) the string wrap technique to remove my wedding band. My hands became very painful and itchey as well.I had allergic reaction to something... nothing's changed in my med/diet/soaps, ect regimine, besides coming off Percocet a week ago to trigger a reaction. Ive never had such an incident before. Any ideas?
It can be a withdrawal side effect from coming off the Percocet since it is a form of Oxcodone and depending on how long you've been taking it. Not all reactions to a form medications being stopped is right away but after the body starts to miss it. I would not allow it to go on very long because most severe and rapid onsets of edema are caused by Cellulitis. I found out from a wasp sting that it can happen at any time after an incident takes place, It had been over a week between the time I was stung and the time the swelling happened. I was told that it can happen it you had your hands in water to long and you may have had a little cut, just don't take to long to go for treatment.
