Do you take something like prevacid or prilosec? You can put the head end of your bed up on blocks so that your head is up higher then your stomach, without you being uncomfortable. Taking something like mylanta or maalox would help too. Sometimes a eating a piece of bread helps, and a glass of milk would too.
Good advice above. Also try not to eat anything 2-3 hours before going to bed. If it is severe at night, you must have some reflux symptoms during the day. Figure out what food or drinks exacerbate it and avoid those. I have to avoid orange juice for example.
I've had acid reflux for years, however, I had no idea that acid reflux could produce severe pain. Has anyone else with it had severe pain.? If not, I would think that you should definately see a specialist. I'll leave that question up to others.
