I am on sertraline for almost 3 months, I have not really got much better. Today when I went to see the Doc. he increased my dose from 150mg to 200mg, he also put me on Valdoxan 50mg. On the valdoxan it says dont drink, I like to have a drink, so I am wondering would it be ok to just not take the Valdoxan on the nights I have a drink, or would it be ok to take them after I drink and going to bed. Thanks Jess
Sertraline and Valdoxan?
Hi, the reason your doctor has warned you about drinking is the worry of causing stress to the liver. Valdoxan (Agomelatine) can increase the risk of liver damage. You will have likely had a blood test prior to this being prescribed. Liver damage can also make depression worse. It is warned that people who drink "excessive" amounts of alcohol shouldn't take this medication. Speak with your doctor about the possibility of having a drink now and then... don't take days off this medication, it will affect the efficacy
