I told my work that i am taking sertraline ( anti depressant ) and they have askes me for a note from my doctors whether it will affect my use of machinery. The tablets have never made me feel drowsy, i went to my doctors and they said that they cannot disclose medical information. I am now stuck as i dont want to lose my job because of this.
The answer, of course if you are unaffected, is yes you should be quite safe. It seems that you are stuck between your employers not wanting a potential insurance liability and your doctors unwillingness to accept any possibility of an insurance liability also.
Ask the HR rep at your workplace for advice maybe? In Australia it would be unlawful to discriminate against a person who had an official approval (doctors letter) to say fit to return to work.
