It takes at least two weeks for this medication to work. Maybe try some yoga, and try to keep yourself busy to help the time pass. Good luck.
Hello! This is a common and temporary side effect when starting sertraline (and almost all other antidepressants):
"Common (1% to 10% of users): Affect/emotional lability, agitation, anxiety, bruxism/teeth grinding, depersonalization, depression, nervousness"
It generally only lasts a few days to a week or so and it usually lessens each day.
Whether it was prescribed for depression, anxiety, or both try to be patient because it takes some time for improvement to start and possibly longer to feel the full effects:
"Sleep, energy, or appetite may show some improvement within the first 1-2 weeks. Improvement in these physical symptoms can be an important early signal that the medication is working. Depressed mood, anxiety, and lack of interest in activities may need up to 6-8 weeks to fully improve.
Generic name: sertraline (SER tra leen)
Sertraline (Zoloft) | NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness"
