I've been put on sertaline 100mg a day and I take it in the morning. Doc says I have gad deppresion but seems to think more anxiety. I was also given .5 kolonipin to take as well. It calms me down for a bit but doesn't seem to help me stay asleep also took a benadrill with it. I said before I'm really scared to take the kolonipin but right now I'm willing to try any thing to get a good nights rest any suggestions would be greatly appreciated I'm calling my psy doc first thing this morning. I go to sleep around 10 and have been waking up 2:30 like clock work.
Most people, inlcuding myself feel more anxious when starting an ssri, sertraline is Zoloft if i am correct and i was taking it. I felt more anxious for a a while before my body adjusted and it kicked in and i began to feel better, give it more time they say 1 month at least to get full effects.
it will take a while, most doctors say 4-6 weeks for your body to adjust to new medications but if you start to have bad side effects, do not hesitate to call your doctor, psychiatrist, etc. and leave a message with their answering service or whomever is in the office. with the klonopin, it is probably better to take it in the evening. I think that's for the anxiety and it will probably help with your sleep deprivation. when you take the klonopin, do not use the Benadryl. believe it or not, even though the doctors sometimes tell you to take Benadryl, depending on your body's reaction... it will actually work as a stimulant and make you more hyper (awake) my body does that when I tried to use it for sleeping as my doctor had instructed. also, do not take the two together. try the klonopin without taking a Benadryl during the day and see if you will see better results.
if after a couple of days always give your doctor a call and let them know the type of reactions your body is having to the meds and that way they will know whether they need to try something else that's more tolerable for your body. good luck and God bless you. don't be afraid of the medication. it's part of the anxiety that makes us more paranoid with trying new medications.
