I am on 700mg of Sequel and thinking kg switching to Latuda. I was wondering what people's experience with switching was. Seroquel has made me gain 35 pounds in less than a year. I can't take the weight gain and other symptoms especially as it can cause diabetes. Any information would be helpful.
I do really well on Latuda. I am on both of them right now, but I was on Latuda for quite some time before adding a low dose (50mg, then lowering to 25mg) of Seroquel. Latuda, to me, is a very soft and happy medication. I didn't feel any issues with side effects. I didn't think I was having issues with feeling hungrier than usual, but apparently I did gain some weight, but this is something to deal with no matter what you are facing when it comes to Atypical Antipsychotics. I have heard that Geodon might be one exception. Seroquel gives me REALLY bad nightmares, that's why that super low dose was lowered even more. All you can do is give it a try and see if you like it! I did go manic on it once, and I had to up my Lamictal, but I was only on 60mg of Latuda, so maybe that wasn't sufficient for me.
In my experience Latuda is the 3rd best med used as an antidepressant there is behind Lamictal and Remeron but it doesn't help mania unlike Seroquel which acts as a antidepressant and mood stabilizer, Latuda would be great with Depakote or maybe Lithium but weight is an issue with both of them. Tegretol, Lamictal, or Topamax might be options that are weight neutral and worth considering
