... home on oxygen, 24/7. I was very weak and tired. I thought I was getting better. Some days I am almost 'well', other days to get out of bed exhausts me. I do have some problems with memory and staying focused. I have terrible headaches and body pains. I want to be me again so bad. I would love for someone to share some info that I might be able to change and get better sooner. Also, I get scared easy now, and I can't sleep at nights. Thank you in advance
Hi. I just saw your question. I had sepsis due to Strep A. Afterwards I developed pneumonia. I was on ventilator for 7 days. I had delusions while in icu. They were horrible. Had lung surgery to correct damage due to strep. All in all I was in hospital 2 months. Had physical therapy to learn to walk again. I am 57 yrs old. Its been just over a year anniversary. I still have problems with memory, muscle pain, fatigue and nightmares. I have gone to therapy. The dr treats it as ptsd. I get Buspar for anxiety. I hope things have improved for you. It is going to take years to get back. I still dont think we will be same as before sepsis. That was an enormous trauma.
Hi remah2005. I had 2 surgeries and went into septic shock. I was in ICU for 21 days and in the hospital for a month and 1/2. I don't remember anything until the last week in the hospital. I also had terrors and the dreams were just awful! I also have trouble staying focused, headaches, body pains/numbness and am exhausted. I also want to be me so bad too. And I spent another 3 weeks in a nursing home getting rehab. The one thing I do is walk. I have a treadmill and I do a mile. Some days I get lazy but I feel worse when I don't exercise. I keep telling myself that I just have to do it. I also have an open would but when that heals, I will be doing weights too. I'll be darned if this is going to take away my life if I can help it.
