Is this a gentle one which doesn't cause that much pain or not is there anything softer that I can take which is more bearable?? Is this a painful laxative I'm just so scared to take it...
Well, clearly if you have impacted feces, some pain will be involved passing a motion. It is probably too late for a stool softener if you are writing in. Unfortunately the only other alternative is your finger or the ER (someone else' fingers or/and an implement).
Hello, The Senokot laxatives that you are referring to has both a vegetable laxative and a stool softener. Yes, you are correct they almost always give you cramps despite there claim of being a gentle overnight laxative.
If you're looking for a mild stool softener I recommend you buy the store brand of Colace. Look for the store brand called Colace Docusate sodium. They come in a clear soft 50mg gel cap.
It's recommend that you take one to two 50mg Docusate sodium capsules with meals or before bedtime.
Quite a few doctors prescribe Colace docusate sodium capsules if your either taking new medications, i.e Narcotics which may cause constipation or if your bed bound.
Be careful when you select Colace at the Pharmacy. Reason being, Colace also is available as Peri-Colace. Peri-Colace comes with a stimulant laxative.
Make sure you read the labels carefully. Be well!
