Seizures are related to epilepsy. Cebral Palsey and epilepsy can both occur in someone who had a difficult birth and oxygen deprevation but they do not always go hand in hand. One can have one disorder without the other. I have a 30 yr old daugther with epilepsy and a 34 yr old daugther-in-law with cebral palsey but neither has the other condition. Epilepsy varies with each person as to types of seizures and how quickly they come on. The problem with epilespy is it is next to impossible to predict when they will come. They also seem to change (sometimes as we age) in types (ie absence, complex or generalized) and in frequency. That is what makes living with epilepsy so difficult for everyone - you just never are sure when a seizure may occur or how strong it will be. Where the brain is affected has a bearing as to how the person will react as well as the types of meds used to control the seizures. If a change has occured in the seizures it would be good to see a neurologist for further testing ie: MRI, EEG or CT to see what is going on.
