i have been given doxepin 10mg, gave me a severe headache, then trazodone 50mg, made me feel strange, & now clonazepam 0.5mg. none of these work for my sleep issues. i have not slept more than 2 hours a night for months.should i keep going to this doctor or find another who can help me? i have other health issues & this not sleeping is getting the best of me. i am always tired.
I wonder why he didn't give you amitriptyline. That usually works pretty good. It does leave you feeling groggy in the morning until you get used to it. I've taken it for years for sleep. Its also an antidepressant which would help you too. Depression really messes with your sleep pattern. You can ask for a referral to a sleep specialist if you think this dr isn't helping you.
Your doctor may be able to stop your Klonopin and prescribe you a sleep medication such as Ambien or Lunesta. These sleep medications are very effective. My doctor prescribed me the generic form of Ambien which has helped me to get to sleep easier. Klonopin can be habit forming and cause withdrawals when you decide to wean off of it. Klonopin (clonazepam) is a tranquilizer. Ambien and Lunesta are sedatives. Ask your doctor about Ambien or Lunesta. Hopefully, this recommendation will help with your problem...
