I got seen and to stop my oxycontin and the consultant said that I don't need to go back but if my pain get worst can I be refered bk
Hello ngk – If you are happy for your Oxycontin to B stopped then fine. If not mention it to the Prof she can get it reinstated by recommending that U remain on it. But U need 2 inform the Prof that is has been stopped any way. This happened 2 me when my Dr stopped my Diazepam (Valium) and the London Pain Clinic recommended that I should stay on it and I did. The Prof should do a full review of all your medications any way and will discuss with U the best treatment regime 4 U. If she feels that U need pain clinic treatment then she wili state this also and U do need 2 be under a pain clinic for ‘hands on treatment’. Remember a Professor who specialises in your condition ‘tumps’ a Dr who specialises in your condition, thus what your Prof states is what U will (should) receive – Good luck 4 today will B thinking of U.
Yes, there are other answers to your pain problems. My migraines have also been helped tremendously by nerve block and trigger point injections, which may or may not help you. Also there are other daily preventative migraine meds that may help you better than what you are taking. Re. your fibromyalgia, the top researcher in the world said that exercise is the single best remedy for fibro. Believe it. I know that it's difficult when you are in pain, but you have to start very gradually and not overdo it. Also there are other meds for fibromyalgia which are not pain killers. E.g. Trazodone has tremendously helped my fibro. You need to try some other meds. Even your GP should be able to prescribe other meds for you or ask for another referral to see a pain specialist. Good luck to you.
