I just blew out my left rotator cuff. I had surgury on my right one 7 months ago. I am in a lot of pain and can't afford surgery untill 4 month from now. My doctor only wants to prescribe ibuprofen for pain but it helps little. I am the owner of a small business that requires physical labor and I can't take time off.is there something my doc can give me to work through the pain untill I have my surgury? Need help here. My family is depending on me
I have experience of this pain!
Only relief to is completely rest it until out of the trauma and go easy until you can get surgery.I am awaiting surgery Im In uk and go to India end of the month to have the op.consultant here tells me I have left the injury too long and the possibility of getting fixed slim.I have practiced yoga for 28 years , the injury caused by a horse riding incident.Last month I made a stupid action and my right arm went the colour of a brinjal(egg plant) Big Pain, used Ayurvedic oil from Kerala ,s.India& ,ibroprofin, pain killer,I don't like to take pain killers but for this much pain it was necessary for a few days, now counting days until I can see someone ,a surgeon who understands and can help me.I can stand on head ,drop back to a back bend no prob , the action of eating is a problem ,my rotator cuffs torn in 2 places,I've seen the X-ray and sonar scan.I am careful not to make wrong movements, the pain is quite extreme,it is no good doing heavy work my dear, if you have to then do it mindfully so as not to put your injury into trauma again, this is my way of dealing with it,if you have any better suggestions then please let me know.Pain is telling us to change the way we do things, also I have never had surgery before so that is in itself a scary prospect.I can do quite physical work so long as I am mindful of my injury.I am told that surgery is the only way this can be fixed, just take care for next 4 months until you can get treated.Lesley
Just got the word from my doctor today. I need a second surgery on my right shoulder. Had the left one done two yrs ago. The pain is off the charts! It never occurred to me the I would have to go through this again. Did your doctor mention a cortisone shot? It stops the pain for awhile but there' s the risk of further injury.
