Hello, I'll like an second opinion on my broken foot, I play basketball and my coach is trying to get me back on the floor . I went to the doctor about two in a half weeks away an he gave me a boot to wear and I just got a follow up money . He told me that I could take the boot off in a week but my foot has never stopped hurting in the boot it's consistent pain and even hurts worse when I try to walk barefooted. He says I'm fine but I think otherwise.
I'm surprised by the short time frame. The bones of the foot are finer than the bones in your hand. I wouldn't be playing basketball until I had an x-ray or CT confirming proper union at the break and that it should have reached full strength. I've had friends re-break a bone because they tried too hard too soon.
I'm sorry you are going through this!
Do not let the coach bully you into playing until you feel ready!
He's not the one who will have pain.
You are still in the healing phase and should have some callous formation.
If it's more involved than a crack it's going to take longer to heel.
These are weight-bearing bones so they need to be strong.
If it's truly hurting as much or more, I would follow Stephen's advice and go to an ER or specialist.
I find it unusual that the doctor didn't tell you immediately to come in to be seen.
Good luck and try and get physical therapy as soon as they remove it.
Follow directions to the letter !
