I fell from about 8 ft up 10 days ago and injured my left heel. I went to the ER yesterday where they did 2 x-rays and said it's a bad bruise. Problem is that 10 days after I hurt it, I still can not put ANY weight on it at all. I'm worried they missed something but do not have a job or insurance. Should I go to the walk-in and have it checked again?
yes def... 8 years ago my 1 year old daughter was running around my inlaws house on her new hardwood floors when she slipped and fell. I rushed her to sentara general where they did xrays from her pelvis down saying that the results showed nothing and that it was a bad bruise. after a few days of her still not walking I took her to a hospital in Richmond where it turned out it was broken... wha they call a toddler break and she had to wear a cast for 6 weeks. I felt so bad I didnt get a second opinion sooner.
Years ago I shattered my Talus (giant ankle bone at the base of the Tibia). I tried to stand up but fell over; off to the ER where the Doctor did his x-ray, informed me to take some paracetamol and I'd be walking on it in 24 hours. That afternoon the radiologist calls and says you are booked for a CT first thing in the morning; we think a fracture is present. Anyhow, had the CT and it showed the talus was shattered but without bone displacement and was in 5 large pieces and some fragments and they were happy to send me to the main Hospital out my way to get a cast and see an orthopedic surgeon (totally non weight bearing for three months). It's easy to be blown off by a doctor but it does need a CT. I've looked at my ankle x-ray and the truth is I can only see the fracture now (on the old xray) because I know where it was on the CT
