I have just switched to a pain clinic as it was a over a 2 hour drive to get a script from my Ortho pedic surgeon so he recommended that I go to a pain clinic for my pain management. I asked the Dr to switch me from oxycodone 10 mg of which I tool 2 every morning and 1 at night before bed. I was taking Norco 10/325 2 taken in the morning and 1 at night just like I took the oxy..My problem is they are not controlling my pain well enough. I have never been to a pain clinic before so I don't know how it works or what I am allowed to do so I was wondering if I went back before my apt which is not for 3 1/2 weeks as I was just there for the first time like 2 days ago. Does anyone know if they will allow me to come in before my apt to adjust my meds or do I need to wait. I am suffering a lot and I have to work in and outside of the home. I really didn't want to start attending a pain clinc and have the stigma attached to me and to looked at the every dr office and emergency rooms as a drug seeker. Maybe it really is not like that maybe it is just a fear that is unfounded. Please forgive me if I am wrong about the stigma connected with pain clinic patients. I hope and pray I am wrong. Will I be able to return before it is my appt. thanks to anyone who can help me in anyway. God Bless you and help you with your pain.. I now after this latest surgery have a 5 lumbar vertebrae fussed together and have screws and plate for stabilization of my spine. I would like to not take pain meds at all but I don't know if or when that will happen. thanks for any answer or info you can give me from your own experience. Janet
Hi Janet, no, you are not wrong, pain patients are on the losing end of the fasiled battle against abuse. Many Drs are being intimidated by the DEA, who, having failed to quell the street trade have gone to the what they see as the source, the Doctors. Matters not how legit the need, many of them have just stopped writing the scripts.
Best bet is to have valid evidence of your procedure and not to ask for a specific med, as that's a red flag.
