My sciatic nerve was. Physically damaged in an accident 17 years ago and daily pain started about a year ago. I cannot take an nsaid due to kidney disease. I currently live in a country where marijuana is not an option. What can I take for chronic pain in my leg?
Hi David, this may or may not be helpful: https://www.drugs.com/slideshow/chronic-pain-management-options-1229#slide-1
It is a pain management slideshow with treatment options in plain easy to understand language.
I hope it helps some.
The presentation Stephen linked with is worth the time.
I'm surprised they didn't start you on meds specifically for nerve pain -
Neurontin , Lyrica , or Cymbalta. Cymbalta will get some passionate negatives because of the withdrawal some preppie have.
I started it after my husband had such good results. I was on it 10 years ago and I've gotten off with no ill effects two times.
We just figured if we have a life long pain problem, why would we want to get off?
I do notice I feel a bit better on it but not for pain relief. It's just like I don't care about it as much.
You could check out Tramadol regarding your kidney function.
It's also gotten mixed reviews.
I think there were some class action suits regarding the Cymbalta.
I hope you find something soon because the longer these chronic pain issues go on the harder they are to correct.
