Hi Michael
Chances are if your knee keeps giving out, esp while standing or walking you probably have a torn ACL (Anterior cruciate ligament.)
The ACL is a ligament that connects your femur to your tibia.
If it continues to happen make an appointment with an orthopedic doctor. Depending upon the severity of the injury treatment can range from outpatient Physical Therapy to possible Surgical intervention.
