does the person cycle? does it involve phycosis? are delusional states involved?
Schizoaffective disorder compounds psychosis with mood swings. Generally, it affects women more than men. Psychotic episodes generally last about 2 weeks at a time and they can occur at the same time as the mood swings or separately. Most people with schizoaffective disorder generally believe they have a problem with mood swings than anything else.
Symptoms of schizoaffective disorder include: paranoia, delusions, change in energy or appetite, belief that radios and televisions are being used to monitor the individual or are sending him/her messages, disorganized speech, sleep problems, lack of concern for health and hygiene, hallucinations, irritability/anger issues, poor concentration, and mood swings. Hope this helps!
