You should see your dentist. No one wants to hear they have cancer but ignoring it wont make it go away. If it is cancer, the sooner it is removed, the better. You dont want it to spread through your lymph nodes in your neck to the rest of your body or to your brain. Chances are good it could be a benign swelling but in the event it IS cancer, the sooner it is treated the better! Go see some one next week if you can (or asap)
Don't stress about it yet. See your dentist. I have had 2 benign cysts removed from the inside of my cheeks. They were in places where my teeth rubbed on my cheek or where I bit my cheek out of nervous habit. Your dentist can tell you right away what it is. Make an appointment. In the meantime, don't mess with it unless it is an open sore, Then it is most likely a canker sore (like someone else said). You can get OTC meds to treat that.
Hello shell. I understand that stab of fear. As we age we have them far more frequently because we have learned so much. Heard so many stories. We also have gained wisdom. Whether the dentist or your physician, finding out what it is now will keep you out of being ruled by anxiety and give you peace of mind. When I was told I had thyroid cancer, all I said was, "yeah, I thought so." I have seen far more things, like my disease, to get me. Just a matter of perspective.
My mother had your approach to her health. Just as her mother did. They ignored the signs of illness and operable and curable cancer went to deadly cancer and early death. I decided I would never deny my observations and feelings and leave my family based upon denial.
Go get it looked at. I suspect you will be just fine, have a good laugh and a story to tell. Best way I know to help others. Our foibles help another. Let us know what the doctor or dentist said. We are here to listen. Karen
