Took myself off Lexapro a year+then doc added Busbar&Wellbutrin.I have I only been taking .50xanax(10-12yrs)and I CANNOT take the depression & anxiety anymore.I am scared to start again BUT have to. ANY suggestions how long till it all starts helping?
Ive been prescribed to xanax for about 16+ years. But since i was 13yrs old (im now 31) doctors have tried MANY anti-depressants/anxiety meds. I have been taking welbutrin for about 5 years, took myself off of it about 2years ago when i found out i was pregnant, But got right back on it about a year or so ago. I didn't think it was working but about two months after restarting it I began to notice a difference. Its not a med that helps over nite like others out there. But I've tried just about every anxiety/depression med out there and welbutrin has helped me the most by far. Hang in there :)
Hi, Rechell! Do you really want to continue feeling as you are now? Your doctor can't raise the dosage of your Xanax because it is highly addictive and you don't ever want to endure the withdrawals from a benzodiazepine!
Buspar is an excellent anxiolytic with few, if any, side effects while Wellbutrin is an excellent antidepressant. While it's true antidepressants can cause a transient and temporary increase in your anxiety level it only lasts a few days to a couple of weeks. Nothing at all compared to the months and years you've suffered already.
I'd think anything is worth a try and is certainly better than what you've got now.
It would trake about 3-4 weeks before you'd begin feeling the full effects and about 6-8 weeks for you to reach full therapeutic blood levels but you'd start feeling better quickly.
Best wishes and good luck to you, Wildcat
I recently went through this, I've been on both now for 2 weeks and it is wonderful. I was on the Welbutrin prior but like you I suffered extreme anxiety. I was introduced to Buspar 2 weeks ago and everyone said it will work and after only 1 week I felt the difference. Please try to get away from Xanax... Buspar after getting into my system was so much better than the Xanax
I was on Xanax I had to be hospitalized just to get off of it! I have a high sensitivity to medication, it took 5 months to find Buspar... I was very afraid to take it, I even had an anxiety attack that sent me to THE ER. It wasn't Buspar that did it, this is just how bad my anxiety was... I can't express how much Buspar worked for me. I've noticed that in order to get experienced help with meds you should see a psychiatrist. Your doctor is only looking out for you by not giving you Xanax. Xanax was never meant to be a maintenance drug. Xanax should only be used short term. Please research it guys, xanax has a truckload of long term side effects...
I just typed a long question/s and would not let me post??? So..day 3 back on Lexapro 20mg. Should I add the Busbar or wait??? My BIGGEST issue is the ALL day anxiety & panic attacks. Yes, I know over 10 years on xanax is not a good thing, I am VERY scared right now... I have maybe a day's worth left(long story w/script/refill) and will be out another week and half. Unfortunately I do not have strong support system&for someone who has never experienced any part of anxiety, depression, PTSD they don't get it. I am really scared & don't know what to do. I was told "go to E.R&figure it out". Thing is, I can't be admitted bc I have 2 people that depend on me. ANY help, comments, suggestions, experience I would be so grateful. All alone in this.
