Which is safer: 3 yr. old Vicodin pill, or a new Percocet? (have shin splint)?

The older pill may not have any strength left, its 2 yrs out of date.

For shin splints I give NSAIDs and use cold compress and elevation
I have found that the Tylenol based Meds do not work as well

Contact a local gym and ask them to explain how to stretch it out. It will go away faster without the need for medication.

Percocet is stronger than the Vicodin and is newer.

If these were not prescribed for you for this condition, you shouldnt take either one. As another poster mentioned, you are better off treating shin splints by stretching them out and using non-medicine measures like heat or ice. If you feel that you need something medicine-wise, you should use an OTC anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen or naproxen.
