I had a complete thyroidectomy take synthroid. I also have glaucoma. I have fybromyalgia and my pain is not well controlled
It is not 100% safe fro you.
Tricyclic Antidepressants (Includes Amitriptyline) ↔ Glaucoma
Moderate Potential Hazard, Moderate plausibility
Applies to: Glaucoma (Narrow Angle), Glaucoma/Intraocular Hypertension
Tricyclic antidepressants as other type of antidepressants have an effect on pupil size causing dilation. This effect can potentially narrow the eye angle resulting in increased intraocular pressure and angle closure glaucoma, especially in predisposed patients. These drugs should be used with caution in patients with anatomically narrow angle or history of glaucoma. Doxepin hydrochloride capsules are contraindicated in patients with glaucoma.
Apparently your Dr. does not know much about potential interactions with all due respect to you, if I were you I would seek for a second opinion, as you can clearly read there is a Moderate interaction with Glaucoma which you suffer from.
All the best,
Have you checked with your eye dr regarding this drug? I would.
The side effects do not happen with everyone. Its not 100%
Ex: a side effect of a drug i just started had moderate reaction of anxiety, nervous etc
I had the opposite, I was really tired. Everyone's body is different in how their system will handle a drug.
