HI I have a respiratory infection and feel I cant breathe properly. My doctor has prescribed ventolin but its classed as a category c drug. Has any one been pregnant and used ventolin? how often did you take it? did you limit the amount just to be on the safe side? any known side effects to baby? thanks
There is a thing called risk to benefit ratio. While it is best not to use any drugs while you are pregnant, sometimes it is necessary. If you cannot breathe, your baby will not get enough oxygen either and this could be bad for it's developing brain and other little body parts. So it is important for you to be able to breathe well even if that means you must take a drug while pregnant. I assume your Dr does know that you are pregnant? You can discuss taking the Ventolin with your OB doc (obstetrician).
