My Mom is 72 years old with Parkinson's related dementia, she also has heart problems, and has started having difficulty swallowing lately. She has been taking clonazepam 0.25 mg for 30 days now, and she is becoming more confused and forgetful. Is it safe to stop the clonazepam cold turkey? She also takes Aricept for the dementia.
No its not safe to just stop it. Her dr will know how to take her off of it if he thinks its advisable. Never stop medication like this abruptly. If she has dementia you can't be sure the med has anything to do with her symptoms. This is something that must be discussed with her doctor.
