I have broken ampoules opening them by hand. Is there a device that can open them safely?
I believe there is a little device to slip over then end of the ampule but you can easily open them by folding a gauze square or I often used to use an unopened alcohol swab foil package square by folding it in half with the top of the ampule inbetween the halves and pop it open away from the body. This will protect your hand if it does crack or break. Be sure you are holding it firmly and are putting the pressure right where the score is in the narrow area. I rarely have them break doing it this way.
