My new Pschyriatrist took me off Xanax which I was taking 3 times a day & was doing good & I take Effexor for depression & Seroquel to sleep because I have so much stress in my life & anxiety. He put me on Klonopin 3 times a day, 1 mg, feels like it does nothing. I wanted him to put me back on Xanax & refused & I asked for Valium & he said no. I also have a Thyroid problem & take Synthroid & Keppra for seizures, & Pravastatin for my chlosterol. Any suggestions? I go back this week to see him but I feel like changing my Dr?
I've taken Klonopin 1mgx2 daily for the last couple yrs and it has made a huge positive impact on controling GAD, however it takes time for the drowsiness to subside . With major depression, I've taken so many different meds and about to start Seroquel 100mgs and while I am curious how the two will interact, hopefully positively! Just like you have to get used to not being on the Xanax, let yourself get used to the Klonopin. Most side-effects fade and often it takes time to settle into a theaputic dose that works. Often with stubburn docs(if that's the case with you) you gotta give it a go before they are willing to contemplate another change.
My therapist calls Xanax the devil drug? I have them but save them for
emergencies only. I also take Effexor and synthroid and doctor added
Lamictal - changed my life. Hopefully Klonopin will do the same for you,
it just takes time for it to work. I would suggest staying with the same doctor
so they have a good record of what you are taking. If one doesn't work
for you he can offer you something else. A therapist is always a good
idea. Exercise and good self talk helps a lot.
