Hi Lillian,
Two of my children were on clonidine in the nineties for sleep disorders. They were the first pediatric cases in the Philadelphia area to be diagnosed with Restless Leg Syndrome. They were a little older than your son, maybe 7-8. The psychologist had them on it also. They did well on it except for one thing you had to watch for, it had a tendency to make them light headed. Because it is a blood pressure medication it can sometimes lower the blood pressure too much and it makes you a little dizzy. My boys weren't too bad but sometimes if they sat up too fast they got dizzy. All in all though, they did really well and the med was a life saver for us. They needed to sleep and we were at our wits end.
Good luck to you both. Take Care, Karen
