My 35 year-old daughter's immunologist/allergist has prescribed oral Ketotifen for her dermatographic urticaria. It's easily available for ophthalmic use (as eyedrops) in the U.S., but we can't find a pharmacy to fill the Rx for capsules (or tablets or pills). Her Doctor prescribed 2mg capsules, and said a couple of his patients with her condition found this drug very helpful, but they had to order theirs from a Canadian website. Unfortunately, the Dr. doesn't know what site they used. I had a long "pharmacist chat" online with Walgreen's, and they cannot find it in the U.S. Can you direct us how to obtain oral Ketotifen? Could a compounding pharmacy make it? Any help would be greatly appreciated; she's suffering much from this condition. Thanks!
In Oregon there are compounding pharmacies. I take 2 mg twice daily and my severe allergies and skin rashes/hives have abated tremendously.
Try Farley's Pharmacy, Inc. in Portland, Oregon. It is one of the oldest pharmacy's in Portland. 503.284.1159...
I don't know if they can send out of state, or where ever you live, but they are so helpful there it might be a good starting place.
Your daughter will experience almost instant relief, and as she takes it on a steady basis the better she will feel. I can't believe how many doctors do not have a clue about US compounding pharmacies. How can they prescribe something they don't know where to fill?
