and a double ear infection. He has been on every antibiotic under the sun for the past few months, including an inhaler for when he loses his breath. He probably got all of this from his daycare since neither my wife or I have come down with anything. All of us had gotten the flu shot a few months ago if that matters. What I am wondering is how long will it take before we see any changes in his health? He got the injection 12 hours ago and now has a 103.1 temperature. Also, will this help for all of his issues? He had a full blood panel run 2 days ago and it can take up to one week for all of the IGG's to come back. Any insight can help. We feel so badly for him because he is totally helpless.

Is there any chance that he will not need shot #2 and #3 or are they inevitable?
You don't indicate your son's age or if he is presently hospitalized. Obviously he is a very sick little boy and has been for some time. It sounds like this modern broad-spectrum antibiotic is the cutting edge choice for him, specifically targeting the pneumonia. I'm not a medical professional but if this were my child, I'd insist he be hospitalized because of the fever still approaching 104'. Please keep us posted! Best of luck to your family.
I agree on the hospitalization. I worked in pediatrics years ago. A 2yr old with a temp that high and pneumonia belongs in the hospital. Too much can happen. Rocephin is a very good antibiotic, and if he was in the hospital it would be given IV. It can be painful when given as a shot. Has anyone done a blood culture on him? Of course its possible that this is a viral problem. Then the antibiotics won't do anything.
