dr gave me savella in 3 scripts..my drug store did not have the 12.5 dosage, that is what i am suppose to start with..i have read there is a starter pack... should i be worried and ask why they did not fill it like my dr wrote?
Robin, first of all, you should ask your doctor for a trial pack. Mine had the 12.5 dosage for a week and then the 25 mg dose for a week. But I'd like to discourage you from taking it. I had horrible side effects that made me feel sick for 3 weeks. I had waves of heat on my face and body, like hot flashes, that made me sweat profusely. I mean dripping off my face and my hair looked like I'd just gotten out of the shower. During the day, I would get so cold I had to get under 4 blankets to try to get warm. I would get a tingling through my body that made me feel freezing cold and made my body shake. My hands and feet were ice cold. One or two nights a week I couldn't get to sleep until dawn, and I take Ambien for sleep. I also had the following side effects: increased sweating, headaches daily, blurred vision, hard to get to sleep or stay asleep, very disturbing, vivid dreams, skin itched all the time, confusion and difficulty finding the word I wanted in a sentence, memory problems, overall body weakness, extreme tiredness and lack of energy, my bones would start hurting really bad (knees, hips, wrist, etc), and panic attacks.
I have filed a report with the FDA and I wish they would take it off the market! I was in bed most of the day and evening because I felt so awful. It wasn't until a friend had a side effect from his blood pressure medicine that required hositalization that it occurred to me that it might be the Savilla that was making me feel so awful. It took a long time to figure it out because it also made it hard for me to think clearly and tap into my memory.
I had been taking Lyrica and decided to try Savella because I didn't think the Lyrica was helping that much. I have to taper off the Savella but my doctor said I could go back on the Lyrica. I did fine on the Lyrica and I'm willing to deal with pain flare-ups rather than spending my life in bed feeling awful. And by the way, my doctor reversed her instructions. When she gave me the trial pack, she said to stop the Lyrica. When I complained about the Savella, she said I could have taken them both. I never had any noticeable side effects from the Lyrica except it didn't take away as much pain as I had hoped. But I had been on Lyrica for a couple years and NO SIDE EFFECTS. Even though I've typed a lot, I feel like I can't adequately communicate how awful it made me feel, 24 hours a day.
Thanks for listening and good luck!
