If prescribed by your physician, yes. Risperidone is an anti-psychotic while Xanax is a benzodiazepine. There are some known interactions to be aware of. You should not mix the two unless a doctor has given you the OK.
Using ALPRAZolam (Xanax) together with risperiDONE may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience some impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
mrs; Yes as long as the doctor gave you both as already said there is no problem taking the two together normally the Risperidone is taken around bedtime and the Xanax is used for extra anxiety during the day if needed but if your just now starting the Risperidone it may take a little bit for it to help you during the day time too. So follow the instructions the doctor has on the bottle if any questions give your doctor a call.
